Pack #74 - 2008 Upper Deck Baseball

(Retail pack)
My cost: $2.50

This the other pack that I bought at.....Yep; you guessed it..... Target.

Let's see what I get:

The first card I pulled was the Yankee Stadium Legacy info card. I have a few friends who are actually trying to put this massive set together. It has 6500 base cards, autographs, memorbilia, and buy-back cards which will make it a very difficult venture....to say the least.

[Card #1] #329 Jose Morales(RC)

[Card #2] #302 Josh Anderson(RC)

Two rookie cards right off the bat is pretty impressive.....now I just wish I knew who they were.

[Card #3] #371 Freddy Sanchez Team Checklist

[Card #4] #392 Jimmy Rollins

[Card #5] #111 Matt Cain

[Card #6] #281 Mark Buehrle

[Card #7] # 8 Casey Kotchman

[Card #8] #242 Jason Hirsh

[Card #9] #164 Chad Cordero

[Card #10] #262 Chad Durbin

[Card #11] # 67 Albert Pujols

[Card #12] # 86 B.J. Upton

[Card #13] # 33 ?????????

OK, is this an error card or is Upper Deck trying to start something??

The card has no name on it!!!!!!

The back of the card says that this guy was a 24th round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays of the 2004 First-year Player Draft. He was 7-9 for the Jays last year and had a 3.81 ERA.

Anybody have any idea as to who this guy is.............................

[Card #14] #145 Lee Gardner[Card #15] #252 Zack Greinke*
Error card #2!!!!!!!!! (At least this one has a name on the back)

[Card #16] # 28 Mark Ellis

[Card #17] #228 Mike Lowell*Error Card #3 - but unless you were under a rock for the past few years, you know this is Mike.

[Card #18] SQ-8 Ryan Howard

Pack #73 - 2005 Presspass Premium Nascar

(Retail pack)
My cost: $1.59

Yep.......you guessed it. Target discount bin!!

I actually bought this pack for my next door neighbor. Him and his wife are huge Nascar fans and I wanted to thank him for helping me out with a few projects around the house.

This is what they got:

[Card #1] #39 Rusty Wallace Miller Lite 2

[Card #2] #50 Presspass Premium Checklist

[Card #3] #54 Dale Jarrett Champion Insert

[Card #4] #14 Bobby Labonte

Lisa, my neighbor's wife, loves this card. Labonte is her favorite driver......so muchso, that she named her dog Labonte. Also; which I think is neat, they named their other dog Racsan.....which is Nascar spelled backwards.

It's a good thing they didn't have any kids............

Pack #71 - 2005 Topps Bazooka Football

(Retail pack)
My cost: $1.50

Another Target discount bin pack:

[Card #1] # 36 Jerome Bettis

[Card #2] #203 Mark Bradley(RC) This card was so thick that I actually thought it might be a game-used card.

[Card #3] # 42 Corey Dillon

[Card #4] # 75 Steven Jackson

[Card #5] # 31 Darrell Jackson

[Card #6] #157 Thomas Jones

[Card #7] # 95 Drew Brees

[Card #8] # 32 Edgerrin James

a two year old stick of gum

and.......

a turn back the clock insert

Which I actually have enjoyed this promotion these past few years. At first; I had a hard time finding a dealer who was actually selling them for a nickel (like they were suppose to) and then giving the subsequent cards away. But, once I found a good dealer, it was a cool set to put together.

Hey; I just realized.................This is an offensive pack.....cool!!

Pack #70 - Hidden Treasures Baseball

(Retail pack)
My cost: $1.25

Yesterday, my son and I went for a "guy's day out" and spent the afternoon at the mall. We watched a movies, grabbed some burgers, and played a few video games.

I bought this pack of cards with some of his tickets that he won, from playing games.............

Now the foil claims that this is the World's Greatest Card Chase. I have a chance of winning one of four Babe Ruth cards. Well; you know what they say, there is a sucker born every minute......

Hidden Treasures

Let's see what I get:

[Card #1] 1987 Topps Bob Grich #677

Man; Bob even has that Tom Selleck mustache from the 80's................

[Card #2] 1989 Topps John Tudor #35

[Card #3] 1990 Minor League Jason Brosnon #17

It wouldn't have been a bad pull if it was this card James Brosnan.

[Card #4] 1982 K-Mart Anniversary Harmon Killebrew

Is this even a card?? It's a damn card with a sideways picture of a real card on it..........Thanks alot for the "hidden treasure"!!!!!!!! This Killebrew will definitely be in my PC........NOT!!!!

[Card #5] 1986 Fleer Jason Thompson #622

Don't it look like one side of his mustache is longer than the other?????

Current Value of Cards: $ .15 (If I was lucky)

Pack #69 - 2006 Topps DPP Football

(Retail pack)
My cost: $1.00

Anytime you can get a $3.00 pack of cards for a buck; well, that's a deal.

Now let's see if I pull anything good:

[Card #1] # 20 Charlie Frye

[Card #2] #143 Manny Lawson(RC-Refractor)

[Card #3] # 13 Peyton Manning

[Card #4] #161 D'Qwell Jackson(RC)

[Card #5] # 18 Reggie Brown

It's hard to believe but, even with a Manning card, the Silver Refractor is the best pull. It books at about $15.00 and makes this pack a huge success..........

FOR ONLY A BUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Pack #68 - 2008 Upper Deck Baseball

(Retail pack)
My cost: $ .99

This is a pack of first edition that I picked up at my local Target. I figured, since I'd opened a few 2008 Topps product, that I would try Upper Deck out:

[Card #1] # 59 Rich Hill

[Card #2] # 95 Bengie Molina

[Card #3] #226 Boof Bonser

OK.....This has got to be a error card because there is no way in hell that this guys name is BooF!!

Boof........these would definitely not be the best things to be named after!!!!

and

to make matters worse........

it's not a mistake. He legally CHANGED HIS NAME TO BOOF because it was a childhood nickname. Now, mind you, I had a few nicknames myself, while in high school, but there is no way I'm changing my name to reflect that "affection".

Pack #66 - 2007 Topps Heritage III Wrestling

(Retail pack)
My cost: $1.59

Today is Easter Sunday and, as a family tradition, my wife and I build little baskets for each of our children............with items that we think they may enjoy.

Our son, Bryan, is a huge WWF Wrestling freak soo I went to Target and found a pack of Heritage III in their discount bin.....................

(This Feb. 6th blog entry was his first break of this product)

Today is his second blog entry..............................

Let's see what he pulls:

[Card #1] #74 Dusty Rhodes

Dusty Rhodes is "old school" wrestling but Bryan actually knew who he was..........which kinda surprised me. I'm not really sure who he is putting the hurt on in this card but it's really cool how times have changed. Back then, it was just shorts, elbow pads and knee pads...............

Now it's leprochans...................

[Card #2] #42 Hornswoggle

This was actually Bryan's favorite "character" these past few months. He was all into the whole Mr. McMahon's lost son story line............................

This is my favorite storyline!!!!!!!!

God Bless the Divas!!!!!!

[Card #3] #58 Torrie Wilson

The back of Torrie's card says that she 'always brings a smile to the faces of her fans'.........AND.........'her natural charm and desire to be the best she can be in the ring has also been the face of the WWE outside the ring' -

RIGHT......................that is exactly the reason I tune in. (wink, wink)

[Card #4] #46 William Regal

[Card #5] 1/9 Special insert magnet

John Cena
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! We are now 7 cards shy of the set.

This is Bryan's favorite card and among his favorite wrestlers.....soo, as you can imagine, it is right next to the Great Khali on the ole fridge.

Overall Grade: A

Bryan (and I) really liked this pack and hope you enjoy it as well...............
